FAQ

📅 Booking & Payment

Q: How far in advance do I need to book DayDayGoodDays Okinawa diving? Can I walk in? A: All activities require advance booking; we do not accept walk-ins. Due to the high demand and limited availability of diving spots in Okinawa during peak season, we strongly recommend booking as early as possible. The regular online booking deadline is 00:00 the night before the activity. If you require a same-day booking, an additional 10% fee will apply, depending on the availability of spots on that day.

Q: Can only one person sign up for an introductory diving or snorkeling trip in Okinawa? A: Yes! However, if there are no other guests joining the group for that time slot, or if you are participating in an introductory diving trip (which cannot be combined with a snorkeling trip), a single person surcharge will apply (3,000 / 6,000 yen per dive depending on the dive site level), and a dedicated instructor will be arranged to guide you one-on-one.

Q: What are the payment methods for booking a tour? A: Online bookings can be made using a credit card. If you wish to pay on-site, please note that only cash is accepted. We recommend paying a 50% deposit online using the promo code 50PAIDONSITE , with the balance payable in cash on-site.

🌦️ Weather & Cancellation Policy

Q: Will rain in Okinawa affect snorkeling or diving at the Blue Grotto? A: Rain does not affect underwater activities. We mainly depend on the wind and wave conditions to determine whether a trip can proceed. If there is a thunderstorm warning, the activity will be rescheduled or cancelled; if it's just a matter of weather warning, it will usually proceed as scheduled.

Q: What will happen to the diving trip if a typhoon or severe weather prevents us from going out to sea? Can I get a refund? A: If the weather conditions are unfavorable but the trip is still possible, the captain may change the dive site for safety reasons. If the weather is so severe that the trip is completely impossible, we will try our best to arrange a different date or time for you; if we are unable to accommodate this, we will arrange cancellation and a full refund.

Q: What is the refund policy for cancellations of diving trips due to personal reasons? A: Full refund for cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the trip; 50% refund for cancellations made 14 days or more prior to the trip; 30% refund for cancellations made 3 days or more prior to the trip; no refund will be given for absences due to personal reasons such as lateness or menstruation, made 1 day or more prior to the trip, or on the day of the trip. Please refer to our cancellation policy page for details.

🫀 Health & Requirements

Q: Can I participate in snorkeling or introductory diving in Okinawa if I don't know how to swim?

A: Absolutely! We will provide wetsuits and snorkeling life jackets (with buoyancy), and Cantonese/Mandarin instructors will guide you throughout the process. As long as you are not afraid of water, you can participate with peace of mind.

Q: Are there any age restrictions for participating in DayDayGoodDays diving activities?

A: Snorkeling is open to ages 4 to 65, and introductory diving is open to ages 10 to 60. If you are over 60 years old to participate in diving or over 65 years old to participate in snorkeling, you must provide an original doctor's certificate issued within 14 days prior to the activity.

Q: Are there any weight restrictions for participating in the activities?

A: There are no weight restrictions for snorkeling and certified fun diving. There are also generally no restrictions for introductory diving (we have experience assisting guests weighing 110kg-130kg to successfully dive). However, to ensure the instructor can handle buoyancy control, propulsion, and safety for guests underwater, if the combined weight of two guests exceeds 155kg, we will arrange for a one-on-one dedicated instructor. This is equivalent to a single-person participation surcharge of 3,000 yen per person per dive.

Q: Is there a prescription penalty for diving? Can I wear contact lenses underwater?

A: We strongly recommend bringing and wearing your own contact lenses. If you cannot wear them, DayDayGoodDays will provide prescription lenses ranging from 200 to 800 degrees (in whole hundreds, with the same prescription for both eyes) free of charge. Due to the magnifying effect of seawater refraction, ordinary plano lenses are sufficient for myopia below 150-200 degrees; no special lenses are needed for astigmatism.

Q: Can women go diving during their menstrual period?

A: Yes, but when diving during menstruation, please be sure to use insertable sanitary products such as tampons, menstrual cups, or menstrual discs to prevent menstrual blood from contaminating the seawater and to ensure hygiene. Please note that these products must be sterilized and cleaned before insertion, and it is recommended to practice before first-time users.

Q: Can I fly immediately after diving in Okinawa?

A: No. For your safety and to prevent decompression sickness, please do not fly within 18 hours after diving. This restriction does not apply to snorkeling.

📍 Logistics & Facilities

Q: Does DayDayGoodDays provide hotel pick-up and drop-off service in Okinawa?

A: We do not provide pick-up and drop-off service. Please drive yourself, hire a car, call Uber, or take a bus to the meeting point.

Q: Where is the meeting point? Is there parking?

A: The main meeting point for Blue Grotto tours is at the pier/fishing port. Free parking is available next to the meeting point. The meeting point varies for each dive site; please refer to our provided information.  Collection Guide Link .

Q: Are there changing rooms, shower facilities, and lockers at the dive site?

A: Our physical store has shower areas, changing rooms, and lockers for the convenience of customers participating in the Blue Hole tour. Most other dive sites (except for the Sands Beach dive site) also have shower areas or simple outdoor fresh/hot water shower facilities, and tents are available for changing. Personal valuables can also be locked in your car or our instructor vehicle; the keys will be taken on board by the instructor for safekeeping.

Q: What do I need to prepare for a diving/snorkeling activity in Okinawa?

A: Please bring a towel, beach sandals, and it's recommended to wear your swimsuit under your casual clothes before heading to the meeting point. If needed, please bring seasickness medication.

🤿 Activity Details & Photography

Q: Can family/friends who are snorkeling and diving together depart on the same boat?

A: Yes! As long as you choose the same time slot, snorkeling and diving guests will depart on the same boat, which is perfect for friends and family of different levels to enjoy together.

Q: How many people will one instructor guide? How long is the activity?

A: For introductory diving, the maximum is 1 to 2; for snorkeling, the maximum is 1 to 6. The entire trip lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, with actual time in the water being approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

Q: Is there a photography service during the dive?

A: Under safe conditions, the instructor will take 5-10 photos for guests free of charge. If you would like to take more photos, we offer GoPro rental service (3,500 yen/unit, memory card included). A link to download photos and videos will be provided after the activity.

Q: Can I bring bread to feed the fish in the water?

A: We do not support feeding the fish. Tropical fish normally eat algae on corals to help them clean themselves. If they get used to being fed, the corals will die from being unable to breathe due to the algae buildup. Please rest assured, the fish in Enna Village are used to swimming towards humans, and you can observe them up close even without feeding them.

Q: Is it suitable for diving in Okinawa during winter (December-March)? Will it be very cold?

A: We are open year-round. The water temperature in Okinawa is warm all year round, usually above 20 degrees Celsius in winter (around 25-29 degrees Celsius in summer). We provide 5mm insulated wetsuits in winter, so it's not too cold underwater.

Q: How much does the perceived temperature differ when diving in winter?

A: Because water conducts heat faster than air, the perceived temperature underwater is about 2 to 4 degrees Celsius lower than the actual water temperature. However, a 5mm wetsuit provides sufficient warmth. The most likely time to feel cold is when you surface after diving and are exposed to the sea breeze, so it's strongly recommended to bring a large towel or windproof jacket for warmth. Guests who are easily chilled may also consider bringing a thermos filled with hot water.
