2026 Okinawa Diving Guide: Blue Cave vs. Kerama Islands – Which is Right for You?

Planning a trip to Okinawa in 2026? If you want to experience Okinawa's most beautiful underwater world, you've definitely heard of two famous places: "Blue Cave" and "Kerama Islands" .

As the team at DayDayGoodDays Okinawa Diving Club, we help thousands of divers every year decide which spot fits their schedule and skill level. Here is our expert breakdown to help you choose.

The Enchanting Blue Cave **2-hour experience

Suitable for: First-time divers, families, and travelers with tight schedules.

The meeting point for the Blue Cave is located in Onna Village, right in front of our store. Here, the natural terrain creates light reflections that give the seawater a mysterious Tiffany Blue hue.

  • Highlights: Enjoy the unique "blue light" reflection and get up close to schools of tropical fish.
  • Advantages of the trip: It's very convenient, only about a 10-minute ferry ride from Maekengku Port. The entire trip (including showering and changing) takes about 2-2.5 hours, so it won't interfere with your later activities like eating Ishigaki beef or going shopping.
  • DayDayGoodDays thoughtful arrangements: We offer services entirely in Cantonese/English. A Chinese-speaking instructor will provide full care in narrow cave sections, ensuring that you have nothing to fear if it's your first time doing dives (DSD) or snorkeling.

The Crystal Clear Kerama Islands **A Day Trip

Suitable for: People who love nature, want to see sea turtles, and have a whole day to spare.

The Kerama Islands are designated as a national park and are world-renowned for their "Kerama Blue," with seawater transparency exceeding 30 meters.

  • Highlights: This place is practically a turtle's home, with an extremely high chance of spotting one! There's also a spectacular coral reef forest.
  • Tour Highlights: This is a full-day boat tour. You'll spend a relaxing day at sea, including three opportunities to go ashore. There are 3 different dive sites.
