The best time to go to Okinawa for your PADI OW/AOW certification is not only in high summer!

Many people think of getting their diving certification in the summer – but actually, September onwards is the season that experienced divers truly love! Fewer crowds, more time, and instructors can slowly guide you, building a solid foundation step by step.

This time, let's break down why getting your PADI OW / AOW certification in Okinawa during autumn is actually fantastic!

🌟 Why is autumn the best time to get certified in Okinawa?

  • 1. Fewer crowds, higher teaching quality: Summer is the peak diving season in Okinawa, with pools, boats, and meeting points all packed. Towards the end of September and October, tourist numbers decrease, giving our instructors more time for one-on-one follow-ups on your techniques, without rushing. The most important thing for certification is a solid foundation, learning slowly and steadily is far more important than rushing to "get it done"!
  • 2. Water temperature remains comfortable, and sea conditions are usually more stable: As autumn arrives in Okinawa, the sea temperature remains at a very comfortable level (approx. 25°C–27°C), not as cold as winter. Additionally, after the typhoon season, the sea surface is usually calmer than in August, and visibility is often even better than during peak season. If you want to clearly see coral, tropical fish, or even encounter sea turtles, autumn is definitely a great time.
  • 3. Get certified, use it right away: Many people who get their OW/AOW certification quickly plan a second trip – whether it's for fun dives at other dive sites in Okinawa, or diving elsewhere, a PADI certification is valid for life, so once you have it, you can immediately plan your next dive trip.
